Who are you and what is your role in the Jet Fuel Review?
My name is Sabrina Parr and I am Poetry Editor as well as Assistant Fiction Editor.
What book might we find on your nightstand right now?
- Texas Gothic by Rosemary Clement-Moore
- Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard
- Matched by Ally Condie
- The One by Kiera Cass
- Dead Silence by Kimberly Derting
- The Girl in the Steel Corset by Kady Cross
It’s a lot, I know.
If you had the chance to co-write with one author, who would you choose? Why?
That is a difficult question; there are so many authors I love. I think I would have to choose Sarah Dessen because I love her books and she talks about so many issues for young adults.
Describe your perfect reading atmosphere.
I love reading on my bed with music playing in the background. I can read just about anywhere as long as there is sound. I can’t read in silence.
What might your personal library look like?
I would want a huge room that you could only get into by secret door and all the walls would be book shelves. There would be very good lighting and a fire place with a little bed nook, so I could come in and lay on the bed and read a book by the fire with some hot chocolate.
If you could “re-make” a poorly written movie that was based on a book, what movie would it be?
The Percy Jackson movies, because they are amazing books and the movies doesn’t do them any justice.
What piece of literature can you reread over and over again?
The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. I love that book so much. I have read it at least 40 times; I never get tired of it.
Give us a quote from your favorite (or any) book/movie.
“One must always be careful of books, and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us.” – Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
If you were invited to have coffee with any fictional character, who would you most like to meet? Why?
There are so many fictional characters I would love to meet but I’m not sure that they could ever live up to my expectations so it might be better to leave them in the books. That way they can never let me down.
Share your top five favorite pieces of writing (anything included).
In no order and very randomly chosen (p.s. This question is so hard because I love so many books)
- Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson
- Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
- The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
- The Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan
- The City of Bones series by Cassandra Clare
Thanks for stopping by and getting to know Sabrina! Be sure to come back next week to meet another Jet Fuel editor.
